I have a good friend and former software colleague who is now in the fly fishing business. He owns and operates several remote fishing lodges in Alaska, Chile and the Bahamas. Recently, he asked for a list of all the Fly Fishing Shops and all the stores that sell fishing tackle in the state of Washington. He’s working to build a coalition of those whose livelihood depends on fly fishing for some form of lobby at the state capital.
The best approach to Smartsourcing up this list was to simply have the virtual workers look at each of the 281 towns or cities in the state and determine if a shop or fishing tackle seller existed. If so, list them. I ran each category separately so as not to create any confusion. $38 and 2 days later, here is what I presented to Andrew:
